Top Coffee Spots in Delhi-NCR

Call me out on this cliché but there is nothing better than sinking into a nice book with some great coffee. After eight years in Delhi, I have found some great places to shun company, sip some great coffee and be an unapologetic introvert/bookworm. And I don’t mean at Starbucks! Here are some of my top coffee spots in Delhi-NCR:

1. Sibang Bakery – Gurgaon

Located in one of Gurgaon’s many non-descript malls (South Point on Golf Course Road), I first discovered this café nearly three years ago. Since this part of Gurgaon is a hub for many Asian companies, it is easy to find authentic cafés that cater to the needs of the community. Sibang Bakery is one of the few authentic Korean eateries in Delhi-NCR. Step inside and inhale the sweet aroma of baked goods and coffee. Each baked good is prepared on the premises.

This rustic bakery has limited seating – which is good – and a self-service concept. Which means that sometimes you end up with a lot more than you can actually stomach! But no worries, you can sit forever with a nice book and nothing to do but eat!

Where: 108, 1st Floor, DLF South Point Mall, Golf Course Road, Gurgaon

What to have: Ham, tomato, cheese and lettuce sandwiches, Banana bread, White Bean bun,  Vanilla latte

2. Getafix – Gurgaon

For those who’d like to indulge guilt-free brunching, Getafix in Gurgaon’s Cross Point Mall is the perfect place to spend a long Sunday morning. The cafe’s colourful and tasteful décor is understated. Sit at one of the booths or a table or opt for a plush couch near the entrance. Apart from a modest collection of books, each table has – in keeping with its name – an Asterix and Obelix comic for you to peruse while you wait for your food.

Not only is this place great for coffee and reading, it prides itself on its healthy food. Feed on their nutritious all-day breakfast menu or their gluten-free options as you read away. Getafix is also at two other locations – in Greater Kailash in New Delhi and Sector 15 in Noida. And if you have Zomato Gold, you can avail on their 1+1 option on food here!

Where: Shop 14 & 15, Ground Floor, Cross Point Mall, DLF Phase 4, Gurgaon

What to have: English and American breakfasts, Sunshine Smoothie Bowl, Berranana Fix, Chicken Pot Pie, SpongeBob/C-nergy juice

3. Perch Wine and Coffee Bar – Vasant Vihar, New Delhi (also in Khan Market)

This charming wine and coffee bar is one of its kind. With its wide windows overlooking the street and the Ficus tree growing through the stairwell and into the first floor, Perch has all the aspects of a lazy, ‘contemporary’ European summer café – complete with soft indie music.

The good people at the bar upstairs have a not-so-modest range of 37 wines sourced from various places around the world including Australia, Spain, France and India. The coffees are to die for. You can choose from a range of Indian coffees or if you’re feeling especially experimental, try their single-origin Ethiopian, Colombian or Indonesian blends. Their food is modern-European although not exactly large portion-wise.

Although Perch may be on the more expensive side, don’t give this boho-chic bar a miss, especially if you are a wine/coffee connoisseur. It is definitely high up on my list of the top coffee spots in Delhi-NCR.

Where: 18-A, Basant Lok Market, Basant Lok, Basant Vihar and Khan Market, New Delhi

What to have: Braised Pork Mango and Melon Salad, Sous Vide Spring Chicken, Confit Duck Leg

4. The Brew Room – SDA, New Delhi

In a tiny nook on the first floor of the nondescript SDA market lies this adorable little café. With is rustic brick walled interior, teal window frames and a laboratory-styled brewing area, The Brew Room is perfect to spend an afternoon away from work. What’s more, they have some really interesting kinds of coffee here which you will notice when you glance at the “bar”. Try their Chemex and cold drip coffees – it is a visual treat to see them being prepared.

They also have a modest collection of books and board games here. And if you’re on Zomato Gold, get 1+1 on food here!

5. Another Fine Day Café and Reading Room – Gurgaon

Tucked away in plain sight – on the ground floor of a large steel-and-glass building, off the dusty Gurgaon road – Another Fine Day Café and Reading Room can really make your day fine! Its quaint chic style, soft lighting and unassuming air is welcoming and ideal to spend a day curled up reading a book from their collection or winning at scrabble against your partner – something that, for me, makes it one of the top coffee spots in Delhi-NCR.

If you are concerned that your reading habit is making you put on weight (you know, since if you’re like me going to all these wonderful places), these guys have great health-conscious food too. But if you are a masala chai freak like me – yes, I do like both tea AND coffee – don’t give theirs a miss.

What’s more – if you are young parents, Another Fine Day also has another outlet at South Point Mall which has a kiddy-pen next door. You can enjoy your day while the young’uns frolic around.

Where: Ground Floor, MPD Towers, DLF Golf Course Road, Golf Course Road, Gurgaon/Level 1, South Point Mall, Golf Course Road, Gurgaon

What to have: Eggs Benedict, Mezze Platter, pancakes a pot of masala chai

6. Blue Tokai Coffee Roasters – New Delhi/Gurgaon

In Delhi, visit the one at Saket, although it might take you some searching.

Or you can drink your brew at Hauz Khas, where a Blue Tokai counter is in a Big Fat Sandwich.

But my favourite Blue Tokai is in Gurgaon, inside the Bahrisons Booksellers in the Galleria Market. Great workspace, plus all the books you can buy, PLUS a charming view of the street underneath. Not too bad a place to spend a nice relaxing winter morning. Thus, one of my top coffee spots in Delhi-NCR.

Where: Champa Gali, Saket, New Delhi/ 15A, Block A, Hauz Khas, New Delhi/ Galleria Market, DLF Phase 4, Gurgaon

What to have: Cortado Coffee, Flat White Coffee, Nitro Coffee, Cheesy Fries With Mozzarella and Brown Butter
